Terms of Service
Last updated: July 19, 2026
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of Siftbox, a sole proprietorship registered in Ontario, Canada (“Siftbox”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The service
Siftbox provides you with a dedicated email address (for example, you@siftbox.ca) that you can use when subscribing to newsletters and marketing communications. Email sent to that address is received by Siftbox and, based on your settings, forwarded to your personal inbox, held in your Siftbox account, or filtered by topic. Classification is performed by automated systems, including machine-learning models.
Siftbox is designed for newsletter and marketing email. It is not a general-purpose email provider and must not be used as the primary address for accounts, security codes, legal notices, or other critical correspondence. While we identify and prioritize messages that appear transactional (such as receipts and verification emails), automated classification is not perfect, and we do not guarantee that any particular message will be classified correctly or delivered within any particular time.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least the age of majority in your province or territory (or the equivalent in your jurisdiction) to use Siftbox.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Siftbox to:
- send, relay, or facilitate spam or unlawful communications;
- register accounts by automated means or create accounts for resale;
- interfere with or disrupt the service, probe its infrastructure, or attempt to access other users’ data;
- violate any applicable law, including anti-spam legislation such as CASL.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that place unreasonable load on the service.
5. Plans, billing, and cancellation
Siftbox offers a free Starter plan and a paid Pro subscription. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance through our payment processor, Stripe. Prices are shown before you subscribe and may change with reasonable advance notice; changes apply from your next billing period.
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
The free Starter plan is subject to a fair-use limit on the number of emails Siftbox filters each month, intended to keep the service sustainable rather than to cap what you can receive. If you approach or reach that limit, we will email you to let you know. Reaching the limit never blocks or drops mail: new messages keep arriving at your Siftbox address without filtering until the limit resets, at which point full filtering resumes automatically. Fair-use limits may be adjusted from time to time.
6. Your content
Email received at your Siftbox address remains yours. You grant us the limited licence needed to operate the service: to receive, store, scan, classify, display, and forward those messages on your behalf, including processing message content through third-party AI providers as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your email content or use it to build advertising profiles.
We may also produce aggregated, de-identified insights — for example, about how frequently a brand sends email or its typical sale patterns — from data collected across Siftbox accounts, and may use these insights ourselves or share or sell them to brands or other partners. These insights are built from patterns across many users and never include your email content or information that identifies you, as described further in our Privacy Policy.
7. Termination and data
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate the service for breach of these Terms, or discontinue the service with reasonable notice. After account closure, your dedicated address stops receiving mail and your stored data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Held messages are retained only for a limited period, as described in the product, and may expire.
8. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Email delivery depends on third-party networks and senders we do not control.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Siftbox will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business opportunity, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $50 CAD and the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the product before it takes effect. Continued use of the service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, and disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario. Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@siftbox.ca.
